CAQA Craftline Furnishing
CAQA Craftline Furnishing designs, manufactures and installs custom cabinetry, upholstered furniture and architectural glazing for homes, builders and commercial fit-out contractors across Melbourne and regional Victoria. The business began as a two-person cabinet shop in 1996 and now runs a full production facility with CNC machining and edge banding lines, a dedicated upholstery workroom, a glass processing plant with toughening and laminating capability, and an installation crew that fits work on site. Customers range from owner-builders renovating a single kitchen to volume builders who order fifty kitchens a month and hospitality groups that need bar fronts, banquette seating and frameless glass balustrades delivered on a fixed program.
The business is organised into six departments. Cabinet Making and Joinery, Upholstery and Soft Furnishings, and Glass and Glazing are the production departments and run a single day shift from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday, with an overtime shift on Saturday mornings during the pre-Christmas builder rush. Design and Estimating works from the Richmond showroom and the Dandenong South office, turning site measures and client briefs into drawings, cutting lists and quotes. Installation and Dispatch schedules deliveries and site work across three crews and two trucks. Quality, Safety and Administration supports every department with document control, incident management, purchasing and payroll.
Craftline runs an integrated quality and safety management system built on the Work Health and Safety Act and the Australian Standard for glass in buildings. Every job carries a job order number from quote to handover, every machine has a current risk assessment and isolation procedure, and every incident, near miss and hazard is logged and reviewed at the weekly production meeting. Hazardous substances such as contact adhesives, two-pack lacquers and solvents are managed under a register with current safety data sheets. Customer complaints are treated as quality records and closed only when the root cause is identified and the fix is verified by the Quality and Safety Manager.
