Carcass
The box structure of a cabinet, made from panels, to which doors, drawers and hardware are fitted.
Cutting list
A list of every component in a job with its finished size, material, edging and quantity, prepared from the drawings.
Edge banding
The process of applying a strip of matching material to the exposed edges of board panels, usually by machine.
Toughened glass
Glass that has been heated and rapidly cooled so it is about four times stronger than float glass and breaks into small blunt pieces.
Laminated glass
Two or more sheets of glass bonded with a plastic interlayer that holds the fragments together if the glass breaks.
Compliance label
The permanent mark on safety glass showing the manufacturer, the glass type and the standard it meets, required by the Australian Standard for glass in buildings.
Foundation
The webbing, springs, padding and foam that support an upholstered seat beneath the final cover.
Two-pack polyurethane
A durable spray finish mixed from a base and an isocyanate hardener that requires booth extraction and respiratory protection.
Job safety analysis
A step by step review of a task that identifies the hazards of each step and the controls to be used before work starts.
Lockout and tagout
Isolating a machine from its energy source and fitting a personal lock and danger tag so it cannot be started while someone is working on it.
