The situation

What has happened

A private customer in Mount Eliza has a confirmed walk-in robe on order (JO-26-1058) for installation on 6 October. They have now asked for a second bank of drawers and a central island bench in the same natural oak woodgrain melamine. Mei-Ling Chao has left a marked-up sketch with dimensions, and the stock register shows oak woodgrain board is on order after falling below minimum. The customer wants the variation priced by the end of the week and wants to know whether the installation date will move. Sanjay Pillai maintains the material and labour rate tables and is available for questions. The quote must be issued from the quote template as a variation to the original quote.

Your brief. Produce an updated drawing and cutting list for the additional drawers and island, cost the variation accurately from the current rate tables, confirm material availability and lead time with stores, and issue a variation quote that clearly states scope, price, exclusions and the effect on the installation date.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Look for a drawing that a cabinet maker could build from, a cutting list that reconciles to the drawing, a cost build-up that uses the rate tables correctly with labour time justified, and a quote that follows the template with plain exclusions and an honest installation date. The candidate must have checked stock rather than assumed availability.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
